Hello World Socialisation Title

 

The “Hello World” titles are ideal for your puppy’s introduction to the big, wide world. Drawing on areas such as sounds, textures, sights and real-world experiences, this title double as a checklist to set your puppy up to be the best dog they can be. We recommend ticking off a maximum of one to two boxes per day with a rest day between them at least once or twice a week, depending on the puppy’s age. Completing each Hello, World level can be awarded with a three-tier rosette. Please don’t rush into filming – each level is designed for the stimuli to be repeated until puppy shows little to no reaction. Each of these should be worked on with plen

ty of reassurance, tasty rewards and praise.

 

This section is open to puppies 6 months and under. 

 

Each award comprises of four sections:

  • Environments and experiences
  • Noises and sounds
  • Objects and textures
  • Husbandry 

 

  • Each section should have the stated amount of points ticked off, totalling 20 points.
  • Each point should be demonstrated once. Videos should be a minimum of 10 seconds long per point.
  • Bronze must be completed before moving onto Silver, and Silver must be completed before moving onto Gold. 

  • This course is designed for confidence building and safe puppy socialisation. A lot of the criteria will require building a positive association prior to filming so take things slowly and have fun!

  • Sounds should be played at a low volume in short intervals or introduced at a distance in person. If your dog shows signs of stress, we recommend ending the session and taking a step backwards.

  • Dog should offer at least 2 paws on the floor stimuli, or investigate the other items (sniffing, a paw/nose touch etc).

  • Dogs should seem comfortable when doing all of these activities, and must not be forced.

Bronze

 

Section 1 - Environments and Experiences (8 boxes required)

  • Meet or see another dog (can be at a distance)
  • Walking on the lead for 20 seconds

Section 3 - Objects and Textures (7 boxes required)

Section 4 - Husbandry (5 boxes required)

  • Stroking (without showing discomfort)
  • Feeding from hand (without snatching)

Silver 

 

Section 1 - Environments and Experiences (8 boxes required)

 

  • A passing bus
  • A person running/jogging past
  • A pram or trolley being pushed past
  • Other animals at a safe distance (e.g. horses or rabbits). Any animals used must not be put under stress
  • Neon signs
  • Travelling on public transport
  • Something noisy (e.g. a spoon, keys) being dropped on a hard floor
  • Skateboard/scooter/bike in motion
  • Seeing themselves in a mirror
  • Person with a cane/walking stick/crutches
  • Pet shop

  • Restraint (person holding dog for 5 seconds without trying to get down)
  • Standing on a table (safely, can be restrained to prevent jumping off)

  • Touching belly and undercarriage
  • Massage
  • Feeding from a syringe
  • Poking with the end of a pen (to mimic vaccinations)

Gold 

 

Section 1 - Environments and Experiences (8 boxes required)

 

  • Train station with foot traffic
  • Moving lift
  • Sports field where people are training (football for example)
  • Shop where pets are permitted

  • Walking on a raised surface (benches, walls)
  • Garden centre

  • Moving water (stream)
  • A moving boat (dog does not have to be on the boat)
  • A moving train (dog does not have to be in the boat)
  • Set of stone steps (at least 3 steps, 8 months and up, age appropriate)

 

Section 4 - Husbandry (5 boxes required)
